I am one of the hundreds of thousands of people with food allergies who used to confidently enjoy meals at In-N-Out, a renowned fast-food chain. We felt safe having a meal there because they served sesame-free buns. However, the recent inclusion of sesame in their burger buns has denied us this basic enjoyment.

It's about more than just a meal. It's about inclusion in society, about feeling "normal" when everyone around us can eat carefree. Being able to eat out is about our quality of life. The feeling of deprivation and the constant fear of an allergic reaction is not a life anyone should have to lead.

It is important to note that according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, about 1.5 million people in the U.S. are allergic to sesame. The introduction of sesame in In-N-Out's buns has automatically restricted these people from their dining choice (American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology).

We, the people affected by sesame allergy, urge In-N-Out to reconsider their decision and either remove sesame from the buns or to offer an alternative sesame-free bun option. This decision would not only increase their customer base but would also reinforce their reputation as a conscious and accommodating fast-food brand.
