Demand Improved Support for Harassment Victims in Guiseley

The Issue

I am a single mother living alone with my son in Leeds, W. Yorkshire UK. For the past seven years, we have been subjected to relentless anti-social behaviour and harassment from a neighbour. This has taken a toll on my mental health and made it challenging to support my vulnerable SEND child who has Autism and allow him a safe home environment where he should be able to thrive, unfortunately he cannot. Our landlord, Yorkshire Housing ltd don’t appear to grasp the impact this is having on my son and I and I feel unsafe, unheard and unless there is physical harm, they don’t seem to wish to accept the way I am being victimised is priority enough.

Our situation is not unique. According to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW), approximately 38% of people experience harassment from neighbours at some point in their lives (source: Office for National Statistics). Yet, despite these alarming numbers, victims often feel unsupported by local authorities.

We need better support systems in place for victims like us - those who are trying their best amidst such adversity but find themselves feeling isolated and unheard. We call upon our local council and law enforcement agencies to take stronger action against harassers, provide more robust protection measures for victims, improve response times when incidents are reported, and offer better mental health resources.

This is not just about me or my son; it's about every individual who suffers silently due to neighbour harassment. It's time we stand together as a community against this issue that affects so many of us.

Please sign this petition if you believe that everyone deserves to live peacefully without fear or distress caused by others' actions.
