Demand Immediate Protection for the Aravali Hills

Demand Immediate Protection for the Aravali Hills
The Issue
Save the Aravali Hills: Protect India’s Oldest Mountain Range
The Aravali Hills are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, estimated to be over 1.5 billion years old. Stretching across Rajasthan, Haryana, and parts of Delhi–NCR, they act as a natural shield for North India.
These hills play a crucial role in:
Controlling air pollution, especially in Delhi–NCR
Preventing the spread of the Thar Desert
Recharging groundwater and supporting rivers and lakes
Providing habitat to hundreds of plant and animal species
However, today the Aravali Hills are under serious and continuous threat.
Due to illegal mining, deforestation, unchecked construction, and encroachment, large portions of the Aravali range have already been damaged or flattened. Despite environmental laws and court orders, destructive activities continue in many areas.
The destruction of the Aravali Hills is directly linked to:
Rapidly worsening air quality in Delhi–NCR
Severe water scarcity in nearby regions
Loss of forests, wildlife, and biodiversity
Rising temperatures, heatwaves, and climate imbalance
Environmental experts warn that damage to the Aravali ecosystem is largely irreversible. Once these hills are destroyed, they cannot be naturally restored, putting the health and future of millions of people at risk.
This is not just an environmental issue — it is a public health and climate crisis.
We cannot stay silent while one of India’s most important natural barriers is disappearing.
📢 What We Demand
We urge the Government and concerned authorities to:
Immediately stop illegal mining and quarrying in the Aravali region
Declare remaining Aravali areas as protected and eco-sensitive zones
Launch large-scale afforestation and ecological restoration programs
Strictly enforce environmental laws and take action against violators
Promote public awareness about the importance of the Aravali Hills
🤝 Call to Action
Protecting the Aravali Hills means protecting:
Our air
Our water
Our climate
Our future generations
Together, we can make difference ✊
