Demand Immediate Legal Action Against Farah Maalim for Threats Against Peaceful Protestors

The Issue

We are calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Kenya to take urgent, necessary action against Mr. Farah Maalim over his regrettable public declaration that he would have killed at least 5000 peaceful, unarmed Gen Z protestors in Kenya. These comments were irresponsibly made as these young people exercise their legal right to demand government accountability through protests - a right guaranteed to them by the Kenyan constitution. The Gen Z protestors, like every other Kenyan citizen, have the right to freedom of assembly, association, and expression in a nonviolent manner. Mr. Maalim's statements endanger this democratic privilege for everyone, creating a chilling effect that hinders the freedom of peaceful protestors out of fear of violent reprisal. According to the United Nations, an estimated 70% of Africa's population is under the age of 30, making these threats an affront to the majority. We urge that the appropriate legal action be taken to hold Mr. Maalim accountable for his intimidation and threats against peaceful protestors. Only through such actions can we enforce and preserve the constitutional rights of all Kenyans. Please sign this petition to demand justice for the Gen Z protestors in Kenya.
