Demand Illinois State Administration to Suspend Kellogg's Artificially Dyed Products

Demand Illinois State Administration to Suspend Kellogg's Artificially Dyed Products
The Issue
As a student of political science at Illinois State, my focus on the intersection of corporate actions and human health has led me to scrutinize our own cafeteria fare. This petition is a call for the Illinois State Administration to remove all Kellogg's products that contain artificial dyes from our cafeteria spaces for a year, or until Kellogg's commits to the use of more natural elements in their product range.
Artificial food dyes have been associated with a diverse host of health impacts, including allergic reactions and hyperactivity in children. A study by Purdue University estimated that children consume seven million pounds of artificial food coloring per year, illustrating the immense scale of this issue (Stevens et al., 2014). Kellogg's, with its global brand outreach and presence in our daily meal space, significantly contributes to daunting statistics.
As a part of an educational institution that values health and well-being, it is our responsibility to demand better from those who feed us. It is not just about Kellogg's. This is a wake-up call for all multinational corporations making the wrong choices for the sake of maximum profit margins.
Let this petition serve as a testament to our commitment to health over profit, nature over artificiality, and consumers over corporations. Please sign this petition and stand up for healthier alternatives in our dining halls and beyond.
