The Issue

This wasn’t just a protest. This was an act of hate in a public place where everyone should feel safe. The attackers wore masks and uniforms and rallied under a symbol that represents genocide. They chose the steps of our state’s seat of government to send a message — and they weren’t met with enough of a response from officials.

New Hampshire Goottevernor Kelly Ayotte said there’s “no place for hate groups” here, but words aren’t enough. There was a violent assault in broad daylight, committed by members of an extremist group known for glorifying hate. That demands more than a press release.

We’re calling on the New Hampshire Attorney General and state legislature to publicly condemn the group, investigate the assault as a potential hate crime, and take steps to strengthen protections around political demonstrations. That includes clearer permitting rules, better coordination between local police and state agencies, and real consequences for organized hate-fueled violence.

People across New Hampshire are horrified by what happened — and they’re standing together in rejection of extremism. But unless our elected officials take concrete action, these groups will keep testing the limits of what’s allowed in our communities.

Add your name if you believe hate shouldn’t have a platform on our public streets, especially not outside the State House.
