I belong to a community where many women and children are finding it increasingly challenging and difficult to cope with daily living. Their hardships are exacerbated by leadership that does not exemplify transparency and integrity. The Prime Minister of Jamaica, who is currently entangled in an investigation for illicit enrichment, has not made a statutory declaration in the last three years. This refusal to disclose financial standing, which is a clear flouting of accountability norms, casts a long shadow over public trust.

Jamaica's Integrity Commission Act 2017 mandates that public officials present their statutory declarations yearly. Failure to do so incites questions regarding the authenticity of their intentions in public service. Yet, for three consecutive years, this prerequisite of transparent governance has been neglected by the Prime Minister.

Such opaque practices not only disrupt the integrity of the office but also hinder potential improvements in the livelihoods of Jamaican citizens. As numerous families continue to struggle, the need for just leadership and accountable governance becomes more significant.

Therefore, we urge the Jamaican citizens and international onlookers to join us in this petition. The Prime Minister must present his statutory declarations and fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation into his alleged illicit enrichment. Doing so would restore confidence among the populace and demonstrate a commitment to transparency and responsibility.
