Demand for the Replacement of Our Ineffective Spanish Teacher Mrs. Velasco

Demand for the Replacement of Our Ineffective Spanish Teacher Mrs. Velasco

The Issue

As a community of Spanish 3 students, we have realized a sharp decline in our learning experience after having highly interactive and effective teachers in the past. This year, we face a unique challenge. Regrettably, our current Spanish teacher does not meet the required teaching standards or display the enthusiasm needed to foster language development. We feel as though our education is not progressing, but stagnating instead.

A considerable portion of our class time is consumed by videos, which our teacher plays instead of engaging us in active learning. In addition, the exercises and assignments handed to us are incoherent and disconnected from the teaching content. This fails to advance our Spanish proficiency. Our teacher's ineffective teaching methodology, inaction, and lack of interaction are hampering our learning experience significantly. The school, unfortunately, seems unaware of this issue and continues to compensate her for such substandard teaching practices.

Research suggests that language learning is interactive and involves constant practice (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages). The fact that we are not getting this from our current teacher is detrimental to our education.

Considering these factors, we are calling on the responsible authorities of our school to replace our current Spanish teacher with a more effective and engaging one. It is our right as students to receive quality education and we will no longer settle for anything less. Please sign this petition if you support the cause and stand with us for a better Spanish learning experience.
