Demand for the ESUHSD to address allegations of sexual assault involving Student Suspect

The Issue

We believe that all students within the East Side Union High School District deserve to feel safe and welcome at school. By ignoring the allegations made against a Student Suspect at Evergreen Valley High School, the ESUHSD is actively participating in enabling rape culture. The district does not want to acknowledge the safety, rights, and discomforts its students share.

We need more than a single email containing false reassurances. As a community, we urgently demand that our concerns are heard and taken seriously.

We demand that Superintendent Glenn Vander Zee and the ESUHSD Administration address the concerns of students and guardians. We want to see a zero-tolerance approach for current and future situations regarding other survivors of sexual violence.

We plan to bring this petition to the district's Superintendent and present these demands:

  • Students responsible must be held accountable for their actions.
  • Reporting sexual assault and harassment to administrators needs to be easily accessible for all students.
  • The district must oversee and teach students to understand the importance of consent and the lasting impacts of assault.

For the safety and protection of our students here at the East Side Union High School District, we ask that you sign and share this petition. We ask that you not just support our community but stand with all survivors of sexual violence. #SpeakUpESUHSD
