The Issue

I am writing this not just for myself, but for thousands of students who woke up today to find their hard work invalidated by a glitchy system. Personally, I walked out of my exams with a calculated worst-case scenario of 430 marks, yet my result shows 389. That is a 41-mark gap that makes absolutely no sense based on my preparation and my performance in subjects where I usually excel. I have spent the last few years balancing my academics with running an independent game studio, even handling complex technical tasks like Steamworks integration and international tax laws. To see my technical aptitude reflected as a "fail" or a "low grade" because a digital system couldn't handle the grading process is insulting. Many of my peers are in even worse positions, with some failing subjects entirely despite being consistent toppers throughout the year.

The Evidence of Systemic Failure The 2026 results show a clear pattern of technical and administrative negligence that cannot be ignored:

National Pass Percentage Drop: The overall pass percentage dropped to 85.20% this year, a significant decrease from 88.39% in 2025. This isn't just "tougher papers"—it is a sign of stricter, potentially flawed evaluation.

On-Screen Marking (OSM) Issues: Reports from the student community and insiders suggest that the digital transition was a disaster. There are claims of blurred scans preventing proper reading of answers and examiners being pressured to clear queues without being able to zoom in or see step-marking clearly.

Lack of Subject Expertise: Evidence suggests that due to teacher shortages, papers were distributed to evaluators who do not even teach the subject, relying solely on a rigid (and potentially flawed) digital answer key.

Financial Gatekeeping: CBSE is currently charging roughly ₹500 to ₹700 per subject just for the first stages of re-checking. For a student wanting to check all 5 subjects, this is a ₹3,500+ barrier just to see if their paper was even scanned correctly.

What We Are Demanding We arent asking for free marks. We are asking for a fair, transparent, and manual re-evaluation process that doesn't bank on a faulty algorithm or an overworked examiner staring at a low-res screen. CBSE needs to acknowledge that the 2026 OSM rollout has failed the students. We demand an immediate reduction in re-evaluation fees and the option for an improvement exam in all subjects to ensure that this year's batch isn't permanently disadvantaged by a "beta test" of a marking system.
