Demand for a Detailed Syllabus for UGC NET English, Paper 2-Code 30

Demand for a Detailed Syllabus for UGC NET English, Paper 2-Code 30
The Issue
I am writing this petition for a comprehensive and structured syllabus for UGC NET English (Paper 2 – Code 30). Currently, the syllabus is limited to broad unit titles, which leads to ambiguity in preparation, inconsistent resource selection, and imbalance in evaluation.
A detailed syllabus—like that of Paper 1 and other subjects such as History or Commerce—would provide transparency, academic equity, and a focused direction for aspirants.
We respectfully request the UGC to:
1. Publish a detailed syllabus for each unit in Paper 2 of English, including representative texts, movements, authors, critical theories, and time periods.
2. Include sample reading lists and frameworks of analysis for each genre or field.
3. Clarify whether Indian, British, American, African, Caribbean, Dalit, and other English literatures are expected under each unit heading.
Such an update would immensely benefit thousands of serious aspirants across India by offering a clear academic trajectory and enabling fair, consistent, and meaningful preparation for the exam.
