I am writing this petition on behalf of my father, a disabled veteran, and many others in Sweet Home, Oregon who have been unjustly treated by our local code enforcement officer. This individual has not only threatened us but also started to put liens on our properties. He even went as far as telling my father's DHS worker that he was going to condemn our home. This forced us into the heartbreaking situation of considering assisted living or a nursing home for my dad.

This is not an isolated incident but a pattern of behavior that has affected numerous families in Sweet Home. Our homes are being ruined and some of us are already seeing the devastating effects with the commencement of property seizures.

The role of code enforcement is to ensure safety and compliance with regulations for the betterment of all residents. However, it seems that in Sweet Home, this role has been twisted into a tool for intimidation and discrimination.

We need your support to bring about change in how code enforcement operates within our community. We demand transparency, fairness, respect for residents' rights, and an end to these aggressive tactics which disproportionately affect vulnerable citizens like my father.
