The Issue

We, as Uber drivers and Uber Eats couriers across cities in British Culombia, are deeply concerned about the worsening conditions on the Uber platform.

Uber drivers are facing:

Very low base fares that haven’t increased in years
High gas prices, car maintenance, and insurance costs
Long wait times with no guaranteed pay
No benefits, no paid sick leave, and no workplace protections
Constant pressure to accept low-paying rides
Uber keeps 40%–50% of the fare paid by customers, while drivers carry nearly all the cost, risk, and responsibility
Uber operates as an untransparent and unaccountable platform, paying minimal compensation to those who do the hardest work

Uber Eats couriers are also struggling witch

Extremely low pay per delivery (often under $4)
No compensation for wait time at restaurants
No guaranteed tips — and Uber takes a cut from those too
High fuel, parking, and maintenance costs
Pressure to deliver quickly regardless of traffic, weather, or safety
Like drivers, couriers receive only a small portion of what customers pay, while Uber takes the majority without providing benefits or support

We demand that Uber Canada:

Increase base pay for all drivers and couriers
Adjust rates to reflect inflation, fuel costs, and time spent working
Make fare and payout calculations fully transparent
Provide minimum protections such as paid sick leave, injury insurance, and fair deactivation policies

We stand united — drivers and couriers from cities across Canada — in calling for fairness, transparency, and respect.

Uber must do better. It’s time for change.
