Demand Equal Parenting Rights for Unmarried Fathers

Demand Equal Parenting Rights for Unmarried Fathers
The Issue
This petition is born out of a personal story that, unfortunately, resonates with countless men across the nation. It's a tale of fathers who have had their right to parent their children stripped away simply because they weren't married to the mother. It's about men who have fought long and hard battles in court, sometimes with legal representation but often without due to financial constraints. It's about fathers burdened with costs they can't afford for child support, endless mediation sessions and guardian fees, and the threat of jail time.
In our society today, many unmarried fathers are not recognized as equal parents from birth. They struggle to be heard in family courts when they cannot afford an attorney and are left financially, emotionally, and spiritually drained by mothers trying to manipulate the system.
According to the U.S Census Bureau data (2018), 19.7 million children live without a father in their home - that’s 1 in 4 children growing up fatherless. Yet research shows that children fare better when both parents are involved in their lives (Journal of Family Psychology).
We demand changes that will ensure pro se litigants in family court have easier access and a stronger voice; we want courts compelled into recognizing when one parent is attempting financial or emotional manipulation; we seek help for those fathers earnestly seeking access to their children against resistant mothers.
It's time we acknowledge this issue and fight for change - because every child needs a father too! Please sign this petition if you believe unmarried fathers should be granted equal parenting rights from birth. <a href="https://www.freepik.com/free-photo/family-fun-water-edge-generated-by-ai_41147066.htm#query=Dad%20sunset%20kids&position=7&from_view=search&track=ais&uuid=a6c273e3-5f6a-49d3-87a8-31cb1e0f0bb3">Image by vecstock</a> on Freepik
