As a student at Bowie State University, I have personally experienced the struggle of being denied access to our school's gym. Physical wellness has been my lifeline in overcoming depression, and the gym was a place where I could relieve stress and maintain my health. Now, it feels like a privilege unjustly taken away from me and many others who are not athletes.

Many students share this sentiment. We pay over $400 per semester for gym access that we don't even have anymore. This is not just about money; it's about our right to use facilities we've paid for and our need for physical wellness as part of our overall well-being.

There have been numerous complaints about this issue, but none have been addressed by the university administration. The lack of proper and consistent management in the weight room/gym is leading us to pay for absolutely nothing.

We believe that every student should be treated equally regardless of whether they are an athlete or not. We all deserve equal access to facilities that promote physical health because it directly impacts our academic performance and mental health.

It's time Bowie State University listens to its students' concerns and takes them seriously. We demand immediate action on this matter - proper management in place ensuring equal gym access for all students.
