Demand Dania Beach reduce mileage to rollback rate

Demand Dania Beach reduce mileage to rollback rate
The Issue
Skyrocketing Dania Beach Taxes
Owning a home in Dania Beach, Florida, has long been a dream, but skyrocketing property taxes are quickly turning that dream into a nightmare. The constant increases have placed a heavy burden on homeowners, myself included, and the problem is compounded by additional non-ad valorem assessments. These assessments should be covered by developer impact fees—not pulled from the pockets of residents.
South Florida has seen unprecedented property value increases over the past five years—growth that many experts have already warned is overvalued. That was the moment when our City should have acted responsibly and reduced the millage rate. While I do not place blame on the current administration for past inaction, they now have an opportunity to correct the course and make things right for residents.
We are also entering a pivotal moment. Next year, voters may be asked to decide on a statewide property tax repeal. Cities across Florida will undoubtedly campaign to preserve property taxes, urging us to vote “no” on repeal. If our leaders want to keep that trust, now is their chance to shine. This is the moment to prove to residents that property taxes can be reduced to a fair and sustainable level—without voters being forced to take the matter away from them.
Additionally, with a City election next year, our leaders have an opportunity to demonstrate results. By lowering the millage to the rollback rate, they can both relieve the crushing financial pressure on families and show that Dania Beach can lead with fairness, responsibility, and vision.
This is not just a fiscal necessity—it is a moral imperative. Reducing the millage rate is about protecting families, ensuring housing remains attainable, and creating an economic environment where residents are not driven out by excessive taxation. Development and expansion should fund themselves through proper impact fees, not on the backs of working homeowners.
