My daughter, Elbie, is 15 years old and is entirely reliant on enteral feeding supplies for her nutrition. Without these supplies, she cannot survive.

 Unfortunately, Cigna Health Insurance has suddenly decided to stop covering these essential supplies. We were only made aware of this devastating decision when a box arrived on our doorstep, along with a letter requesting the return of her feeding pump and notifying us that all supply shipments would cease immediately.



 We are now left with just one month's supply of formula and the necessary equipment. The costs of maintaining our daughter's health are overwhelming for our family. Should we really beg for the continuation of a service that is not just beneficial, but crucial for our daughter's survival? Elbie deserves to live and have access to what she needs to maintain a basic quality of life. 

It's unjust for Cigna to withdraw coverage for essential healthcare supplies from a child who cannot survive without them. The costs of enteral feeding supplies are prohibitively high without insurance coverage, and our ability to support our daughter should not depend on the whims of a health insurance policy.



I'm writing this petition to ask Cigna Health Insurance to reverse their decision and resume coverage of Elbie's enteral feeding supplies immediately. This decision impacts her fundamental right to life and health, and we believe that no family should have to bear the burden of such life-altering, and potentially life-threatening, corporate decisions.

We recently learned that Cigna has farmed out healthcare management work to third party companies; enabling them to only further remove themselves from the patients they are supposed to serve. Cigna will no longer answer my calls directly, let alone allow me to speak with any of the individuals responsible for the decisions made regarding my daughter’s care.

Last year, her medical team spent countless hours advocating for Elbie’s enteral feeding needs. We placed call after call trying to get care coordinated. Finally, we came to a hard-won agreement with Cigna. Now, imagine months later, Cigna suddenly backing out of their part of the agreement. Prioritizing profits, no matter what it does to the patient….and we don’t even have the recourse to speak to someone directly at the company!

Please join me in urging Cigna to provide the coverage that is both needed and right.
