Misled and Trapped in Debt by Orogold Cosmetics — Help Us Demand Accountability

Misled and Trapped in Debt by Orogold Cosmetics — Help Us Demand Accountability
The Issue
QUICK OVERVIEW:
Shoppers across Ontario have been misled into high-interest loans and pressured into costly treatments at Orogold Cosmetics and its affiliated stores.
These stores are part of a larger international network operated under the Mazal Group umbrella, with several Ontario locations believed to be managed locally by The London Group.
We are calling for stronger consumer protection laws, better regulation of mall retailers, and an urgent investigation into unethical sales practices. ✊ Sign now to support those affected.
**These claims are based on first-hand accounts, active legal filings, and complaints submitted to provincial and federal agencies.
📌 Flyers are going up across the community to raise awareness.
“One woman experienced a miscarriage after using a skincare device sold in a mall — a device that was later found to carry warnings against use during pregnancy. Others were charged thousands for treatments they never received, or unknowingly signed high-interest loans.”
🧴 These stores lure shoppers in with “free samples” and apply emotional pressure to convince them to buy overpriced products and beauty devices. Shoppers have reported handing over ID or personal information believing it was for a promotion or receipt — only to later learn that their credit was accessed and financing was approved without clear explanation or consent.
Shoppers were often asked to sign contracts on personal tablets, without receiving paper copies or clear explanations. Many only realized later that they had unknowingly agreed to high-interest financing through companies like LendCare — a third-party lender named in consumer complaints about unauthorized withdrawals and poor communication
⚠️ Some products carried undisclosed health risks, including devices unsafe for use during pregnancy. Several stores have since closed without refunding prepaid services, while others ignore consumer complaints entirely.
📣 Despite numerous complaints to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Protection Ontario, and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, these businesses continue to operate — often in busy malls where new customers are targeted every day.
📺 Media Coverage – This Isn't Just Happening in Canada
Our concerns have been featured in past news segments like “Better Call Berken,” which covered similar Orogold sales tactics several years ago.
And it's still happening! Recently, investigative reporter Ask Anthony aired a 2025 segment on Royal Bee / Bee and Co. — a store reportedly connected to Orogold. The story echoes many of our experiences.
🚨 Update: Toronto Star Investigates Orogold STC 🚨
On July 27, 2025, the Toronto Star published an investigative report exposing troubling practices at Orogold STC and its affiliated stores, The Soap Tree and Royal Bee. Customers reported being misled into high-interest loans and pressured to sign contracts without fully understanding them. The investigation also revealed that these stores share ownership, raising concerns about coordinated business practices.
In response, Orogold STC co-owners Eliran Cherniavsky and Itzchak Chernobelsky denied the allegations.
