The Issue

Boy Scouts of America (BSA), a congressionally chartered organization under Title 36 of the United States Code, has long benefited from federal endorsements and support. Despite its positive contributions to youth development, there have been serious allegations and confirmed instances of misconduct within the organization. These include thousands of cases of sexual abuse, cited in multiple lawsuits, that date back several decades (source: Wall Street Journal, 2020). Furthermore, in response to these issues, the BSA has been criticized for their handling of these allegations. Additionally, other claims to include Nefarious, Unsanctioned and Private use of United States leased land, mismanagement and cover ups by Executives, Employees, Board members and Volunteers, in multiple District, State and Federal lawsuits brought by Bennet vs Aloha Council #104/Boy Scouts of America.

This has caused significant public outcry, led to questions about the organization's commitment to safeguarding youth, and raised serious concerns to its integrity. It is therefore imperative that the U.S Congress takes a reconsideration of the BSA's federal charter, taking into account these grave points of contention. It is important that we ensure any organization given federal recognition is indeed working in the best interest of the public, especially the youth. We urge you to join us in demanding Congress to revoke the Boy Scouts of America's Federal Charter. Please, sign this petition.
