The Issue

In 2026, every congress member, every local and federal candidate and national party leader should be forced to answer one question publicly: will you commit to an Economic Bill of Rights -- or continue squandering our public wealth on a permanent war economy and giveaways to billionaires and their corporations?

We are demanding that federal candidates, congressional leaders, and national party chairs publicly sign or reject this Economic Bill of Rights before the 2026 midterm elections.

Their answers will be published so voters can see who is willing to fight for economic freedom and who is not. Sign now to force a public answer.

We have watched our governments spend a trillion dollars in wars of conquest and self-dealing. We have more than enough in public funds to take care of ourselves. The question has always been political.

Every major study, in every era and every part of the world shows that when people have their basic economic needs met, they thrive, and their communities thrive. The alternative to caring for society, is what we are witnessing now: social collapse.

In January 1944, with the world at war, and fascism not yet defeated, President Franklin Roosevelt told the USA what victory required. Not just the destruction of the Axis. The construction of something that would make the next wave of fascism impossible. A Second Bill of Rights.

Eight economic rights. The right to a meaningful job. To a fair wage. To a home. To medical care. To education. To security in old age, sickness, and unemployment. To freedom from corporate monopolies. To a fair shot for local farmers and small businesses.

Roosevelt explained that "True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence."

This is the second bill of rights promised by President Roosevelt, rooted at the founding of the nation by the words of Jefferson, Thomas Paine, and called for by Dr Martin Luther King Jr, and so many others:

  1. The right to a meaningful job that's of use to society
  2. The right to earn enough for adequate food, clothing, and rest
  3. The right of every local farmer to a fair return on their work
  4. The right of every business to trade free from unfair corporate domination
  5. The right of every family to a decent home
  6. The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity for good health
  7. The right to economic security in old age, sickness, disability, and unemployment
  8. The right to a good education

Once the signatures are in, this pledge will be sent to every registered political party, every sitting member of Congress, and every candidate filing for federal office.

Their responses will be published. This is platform over parties.

We aren't asking the establishment to grant us economic rights. We're declaring them.

Congress and the White House need to hear clearly: food and water, housing, health care, education, a living wage, and a dignified retirement should not be luxuries reserved for the lucky. They should be guaranteed rights for all.

Sign this petition now as a declaration of natural rights, and share it with your network. Every signature helps prove that Americans are ready to make basic economic security the law.
