Demand For Justice: Conecuh Co. District Attorney Prosecute Elderly & Financial Abuse Case

The Issue

Ras McCreary an (83) eighty-three year old man,  life-long resident of Evergreen, AL ;  became victim of a heinous and severe crime of Elderly and Financial Exploitation.

My dad a lifelong resident, retired educator, cattleman, and former county commissioner of Conecuh County. A community activist, man of integrity, that helped countless others, whatever the need.

The exploitation in this case is extremely aggravated and calculated by individual(s) who were apart of a deliberate scheme in which to fraudulently deceive my elderly mentally incapacitated father out of tens -of -thousands of dollars and personal property, comprising of an elaborate Fraud Spree!

Alabama Code Title 13A. Criminal Code § 13A-6-195 [Class B Felony]

(a) The financial exploitation of an elderly person in which the value of the property taken exceeds two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) constitutes financial exploitation of the elderly person in the first degree.

This widely underreported issue is a growing problem not only for my father but also for countless senior citizens like him in the state of Alabama and Evergreen Alabama community.
This is a shameful and egregious crime that must be addressed.

The elderly citizens, especially those suffering from cognitive disorders like Dementia, must have the full protection of our state and federal legal system. They should not be taken advantage of or harmed physically, emotionally or financially. Let's act now to ensure that those responsible for such acts are held accountable.

The sad reality is, my father's case and the substantial amount of evidence has been frustratingly overlooked , brushed-off, and disregarded by local law enforcement agencies, judicial system, and Conecuh Co. District Attorney.

The Conecuh County District Attorney is refusing to investigate this particular case and the atrocious crimes committed.

This should not be the case, we should not feel helpless and unheard in the face of such heinous crimes. Hence, I implore the elected Conecuh County's District Attorney to take swift action and make sure my dad's case is thoroughly investigated.

Then we must insist that Conecuh Co. District Attorney, criminally prosecute those involved to the fullest extent of the law.

Our collective action can help push for this investigation, paving the way for justice not only for my father but also for other vulnerable senior citizens in the Evergreen (Conecuh Co) communities and throughout Alabama.

Elderly persons, such as my dad, deserve respect, justice, and protection. I am asking you to stand not just for my father, but for all the elderly in your community who may be suffering silently.

If you’re a citizen of Coneuch Co. , (Evergreen, AL )or the state of Alabama and/or know someone who is; this could be them, a relative, this could be you, a loved one, or someone else you know. When something is wrong be apart of the change.

PLEASE SIGN — this petition to press and demand the Conecuh County's District Attorney, to take immediate, swift action and criminally prosecute the individual(s) in this serious case of elderly and financial exploitation.
