Demand City Action for Effective Coyote Control in Alhambra and Gain Justice for Snowball
The Issue
Like many residents, I am deeply concerned about the escalating coyote problem in Alhambra, CA. Recently, my dog Snowball was brutally attacked by a pack of coyotes, a traumatic incident that no pet owner should ever have to experience. They have been responsible for the deaths of numerous cats and dogs, causing distress and frustration among many families. This predatory behavior not only affects pet owners emotionally but also poses a risk to the sense of safety within the community. This is not an isolated event. The coyote population in Southern California has significantly increased over the years due to their adaptability and expanding urbanization, putting our pets and local ecosystems at risk (source: UC Cooperative Extension, 2020).
Many families including ours have reported their concerns and distress to the City of Alhambra, only to find that their calls often go inadequately addressed. This neglect has led us feeling that our safety and the well-being of our pets are not being taken seriously. The city needs to take progressive action to manage and control the coyote population in an efficient, ethical, and ecological manner. We are not seeking extermination, but a well-balanced plan that includes public education about minimizing coyote attractants and implementing effective non-lethal control methods to deter these animals from human habitats.
To address these issues, the city of Alhambra needs to work with Animal Control to implement more responsive and proactive measures. This includes establishing a dedicated system for handling and tracking coyote-related complaints, improving the speed and effectiveness of responses, and ensuring that residents receive timely updates and guidance. The uncontrolled coyote issue is not just an inconvenience - it's a real threat to our families' peace of mind and the safety of our pets. We, the residents of Alhambra, urge the city to promptly address this issue and protect our community. Please sign this petition to get justice for Snowball and all the other pets who have been killed by coyotes, and to help make our voices heard.
