Demand Charges Against the Man Who Killed U.S. War Hero Abdul Rahman Waziri
The Issue
Abdul Rahman Waziri survived countless missions alongside U.S. Green Berets in Afghanistan, risking his life daily to protect American soldiers. He was more than a brave soldier—he was a husband, a father to two young daughters, and a cherished member of the Houston community.
On April 27, he was shot and killed outside his apartment after a parking dispute. Surveillance footage and witness accounts suggest that Waziri was unarmed, retreating, and may have even raised his hands in surrender. Still, the man who pulled the trigger was released without charges—and remains free, even weeks later.
This is not just baffling. It’s horrifying.
Waziri was a U.S. ally, hunted by the Taliban for helping our troops, yet he found no protection here on American soil. His family, already traumatized by war and displacement, is now left with unbearable grief and no answers. His young daughter still asks when her father is coming home.
We are not here to speculate on the motives behind law enforcement’s inaction. But when an unarmed man—a war hero—can be shot dead in front of his home and the killer walks free, it demands accountability. It demands justice.
We call on the Houston Police Department and the Harris County District Attorney to take immediate action: bring charges, release the shooter’s identity, and ensure a transparent and thorough investigation. Anything less is a disgrace to Waziri’s service, and to the values this country claims to uphold.
Abdul Rahman Waziri protected us. Now we must protect his memory and his family’s right to justice.
