Demand CBC to Dismiss George Achi for Promoting Disinformation

Demand CBC to Dismiss George Achi for Promoting Disinformation
The Issue
The CBC, in the person of George Atchi, Director of Journalistic Standards, directed reporters to knowingly provide disinformation to Canadians. Specifically :
· CBC instructed reporters not to refer to Hamas as terrorists even though they are categorized as such by the Canadian government.
· CBC instructed reporters not to refer to the fact that Gaza has not been occupied since 2005, when Israel withdrew.
This is a glaring breach of the most basic of journalistic ethics, and is emblematic of CBC's established record of anti-Israel an anti-Zionist bias, but it also much more. Given that these directives were issued directly on the heels of Saturday's slaughter, they are a clear attempt to promote their own questionable political views even if doing so means minimizing, normalizing and implicitly justifying the wholesale rape, torture, kidnapping, and murder of Jews. This type of insidious poison is not new but it is rendered particularly virulent when it is disseminated by ‘trusted’ sources, such a Canada’s national broadcaster.
We therefore demand:
1) The immediate reversal of these directives.
2) That CBC News publicly acknowledges and apologizes for this breach of journalistic integrity and make a (widely disseminated) public apology.
3) The immediate dismissal of George Achi and others involved in deciding on actively supporting these directives.
4) The immediate appointment of a dedicated rapporteur to ongoingly monitor and report on anti-Zionist or Antisemitic bias at CBC news.
5) An independent review of CBC’s editorial policies to ensure they align with principles of accuracy, fairness, and impartiality.
