Demand Brent Council Revises Pedestrian Zone Rules on Mora Road, London NW2

The Issue

For over 40 years, we have built a life in Mora Road, a vibrant community that is now being besieged by unwarranted fines levied against residents who simply wish to use their vehicles during school hours. The transition from a lollipop person and bollards to a pedestrian zone by Brent Council has been abrupt and has disregarded those of us who have lived here for decades.

The current system of fines implemented on Mora Road, where Mora School is situated, penalty charges apply for entering this zone during extended hours in the morning and afternoon. This circumstance, however, is marred by poorly legible signage and inconsistent timing that makes it almost impossible to know when to avoid this zone especially during school holidays.

This situation, we believe, indicates that rather than prioritising safety, the local council seems intent on raising funds at the expense of local residents. This ongoing struggle is particularly concerning for those, such as my elderly husband and myself, who depend on our vehicles for mobility and are unfairly impacted by this new scheme.

Therefore, we call on Brent Council to review and revise the rules for the pedestrian zone on Mora Road, London NW2, especially during school times. We ask for the installation of clear and legible signage, reasonable time constraints, and most importantly, the option for residents to apply for special passes, validating them to use this road without fear of fines. It's time to put an end to this monetising scheme and make Brent more resident-friendly. Please lend your voice to this cause; sign the petition.
