The Issue

In Boynton Beach, FL, countless cats face dire threats due to abandonment and neglect. As someone who has invested time, energy, and personal finances into rescuing and caring for these abandoned felines, I have witnessed firsthand the cruelty that some people exhibit towards these innocent creatures. It's heartbreaking to see animal-hating individuals, HOA's, Property Management companies and business owners trapping, relocating, and even poisoning the cats that volunteers and I strive to save every day.

While there are feral cats, community cats  (often perceived as same), many cats become homeless because their owners move and leave them behind or claim to have developed allergies and dump them in other areas... leaving these helpless animals to fend for themselves on the streets.

Approximately 3.2 million+ cats enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year, with many coming from situations exactly like those in Boynton Beach.

Volunteers and caring individuals in our community commit to trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts, which humanely control the cat population and ensure these felines are fed and cared for upon release. However, TNR programs alone can't address the root of the problem – the abandonment of pets by their owners.

We propose a localized solution: enact stricter penalties for those caught abandoning pets, ensure consistent community education on responsible pet ownership, and bolster support for programs that assist those facing challenges in caring for their pets.

Together, as a community, we can foster a humane environment where stray and abandoned cats aren't just seen as a nuisance but are treated with compassion and respect. While feral cats can be humanely TNR. Let's prevent unnecessary suffering and provide a safer environment for these animals to thrive.

Sign this petition to urge Boynton Beach authorities to adopt these changes and protect our feline friends.
