Demand Answers After Beloved Bison Found Beheaded on Texas Ranch
The Issue
Louisiana was a young bison cow living peacefully on a ranch in Cooke County, Texas — until someone trespassed onto private land and brutally killed her. The animal was found headless near a fence line just days before Thanksgiving. Her owners, Shawn and Christy Neu, were devastated to discover her decomposing body. Louisiana had been shot once and left to die.
Whoever committed this horrific act not only took an innocent life but also deeply violated the land and trust of the people who cared for her. This was not a hunting accident. This was an intentional and cruel crime.
The Cooke County Sheriff's Office is investigating, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Rain the night of the killing may have destroyed potential evidence, and there is no surveillance footage of the area. The family, along with organizations like the Texas Bison Association and the National Bison Association, have offered a reward for information — but the trail remains cold.
This petition is a public call for justice. We are asking Sheriff Ray Sappington and the Cooke County Sheriff's Office to prioritize this case and do everything in their power to bring the person or people responsible to justice. Crimes like this cannot be ignored or quietly forgotten.
Louisiana was not just an animal, she was a living being who deserved safety and dignity. Her violent death must not go unanswered.
Please sign this petition to stand for Louisiana and to demand justice for her killing. Every signature sends a message: animal cruelty and trespassing have no place in our communities, and those responsible must be held accountable.
