Demand Anglian Water to Take Action on Hard Water Issues

The Issue

As a resident in an area served by Anglian Water, I, along with my neighbors and friends, have recently experienced the burden of out-of-pocket funds for plumbers due to limescale build-up – an issue directly linked to hard water. Unfortunately, Anglian Water has not taken responsibility for this widespread problem, neither has it offered any helpful support, but instead, has increased our bills. This, as can be imagined, has led to significant distress amongst us, the consumers.

Hard water is known to cause a number of issues in domestic water supply systems such as damage to heating systems, pipe blockages, and frequent breakdowns of appliances. Moreover, the cost of repairs and replacements due to damage caused by limescale can be substantial, typically running to hundreds of pounds a year per household (Water UK, Hard Water and Water Softening Advice).

Anglian Water, as the body responsible for the quality of water supply in our area, needs to address this serious and costly issue. As paying customers, we should be able to trust our water supplier to take responsibility for the quality of the supply and ensure that the issues arising from hard water are proactively dealt with, not passed on to us as a form of increased bills.

Therefore, this petition demands that Anglian Water implement effective treatment processes to alleviate hard water problems or, equivalently, provide financial assistance to consumers affected by these problems, instead of raising bills irresponsibly.
