As a Nigerian deeply rooted in our culture and passionate about the potential in our youths, we've watched with heavy hearts as our athletes are exploited and underutilised. Our performance at the recent Paris Olympics 2024 was nothing short of heartbreaking, and to many, an outright disgrace. This is a clear implication of the egregious neglect experienced by our sports sector and indeed many other sectors in the hands of underperforming ministries, agencies, commissions and parastatals in Nigeria. Our youths, brimming with talent, are left uncultivated and are denied opportunities to compete at an international and even national levels, ensuing in a wave of disillusionment that often pushes them towards unwholesome activities.

The absolute necessity for an overhaul of these underperforming entities is no longer debatable. The government must take measurable actions to reform these institutions. This doesn't only improve our international standing in sports but also provides opportunities for our younger generations to display their skills and contribute effectively to national development.

We call upon the Nigerian Government (national, state, local government to the ward levels) to formulate and implement effective policies that will transform these underperforming entities. By this, we not only expect an improved performance in sports, but a systemic change in the way our youths have been engaged over the years in various fields. We believe our youths deserve better, Nigeria deserves better.
