Demand an Investigation into the Otero County Department of Child and Family Services

The Issue

I am a concerned parent who has been tirelessly fighting for over two years to ensure the safety of my child, an effort during that has constantly been undermined by the Otero County Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). Instead of providing support and assistance, they have unjustly labeled me and threatened to take away my children, all because I voiced out my valid concerns on social media, advocating for a thorough inquiry into their department.

The situation is distressing given that each case worker, including the supervisor, in Otero County DCFS have grossly mishandled sexual abuse cases and other abuse cases. My child, unfortunately, is one of their numerous victims who are witnessing their plight being dismissed by the very officials meant to ensure their safety.

This lack of proper training and handling of abuse cases within the DCFS of Otero County is an unacceptable failing of the entire system. It's heart-wrenching that vulnerable children are being lost in this administrative abyss, ignored, and not given the protection they desperately need.

It's crucial that we shine a light on the failures of this department in order to improve it. We assert our demand for a thorough and transparent investigation into Otero County DCFS, particularly their handling of abuse cases. Moreover, the officials must partake in comprehensive training designed to adequately deal with different types of abuse cases.

My fight is not just for my child, but for every other child suffering in silence. It is for the sake of all families fighting with their backs against the wall due to the failures of those in positions of authority.

By signing this petition, you are joining a call to hold Otero County DCFS accountable. Let us stand together, not only to demand justice, but also to prevent future vulnerabilities of defenseless children in our county. Please sign and share this petition widely. Your signature can help make the difference.
