Competitive sport-fishing depends on trust. Every team invests significant time, money, and effort with the expectation that the rules will be applied fairly and every catch will be verified using the same standards.

Following the 2026 Dorado Shootout, we identified visible discrepancies between the winning team's catch video and the fish presented at weigh-in. We submitted our concerns, along with supporting evidence, and requested an independent review. The organizers declined to reopen the review, and the results were allowed to stand without an independent examination of the evidence.

The integrity of competitive sportfishing depends on confidence in the verification process. When legitimate questions supported by evidence are not independently evaluated, it undermines trust in tournaments, organizers, and future competitions.

Our Request
We respectfully call on the organizers of the 2026 Dorado Shootout to:

• Conduct an independent review of all available evidence related to the winning catch.
• Make the findings of that review available to competitors.
• Strengthen tournament verification procedures to help ensure transparency and fairness in future events.

This petition is about protecting the integrity of competitive sportfishing for every fisherman who enters a tournament in good faith.
