Florida’s child welfare and family court systems are operating behind closed doors without external accountability and children and protective mothers are paying the price.

​Across the state, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and family court actors too often weaponize procedural power against protective parents. Rather than safeguarding vulnerable children, systemic breakdowns, conflicts of interest among court evaluators, and unverified dependency filings result in wrongful child removals, prolonged trauma, and institutional betrayal.

​We are calling on Governor Ron DeSantis, the Florida Legislature, and the Office of the Chief Inspector General to immediately mandate:

​An Independent Legislative Audit: A comprehensive, external review of Florida DCF and contracted agencies regarding caseworker reporting accuracy, child removals, and federal funding allocation.

​External Family Court Oversight: An independent body to investigate conflicts of interest, evaluator bias, and judicial overreach in custody and dependency matters.

​Accountability for Falsified Evidence: Strict administrative and legal consequences for filing fabricated reports or suppressing exculpatory evidence against protective caregivers.

​Protective Parent Safeguards: Stronger statutory enforcement protecting parents who report legitimate domestic abuse or child safety concerns from retaliatory custody actions.

​Self-policing agencies cannot protect our children.
