Demand an Increase in Financial Assistance for Social Security and Disability Recipients

The Issue

I am one amongst the many struggling with the current Social Security Disability payments, unable to make ends meet for my basic needs despite my professional credentials as a National Restaurant Association Manager and Inspector. Disability has rendered me incapable of working more than a few hours a day, and even this small income gets deducted from my disability benefits, undermining the very concept of supplemented income.

The plight of individuals receiving Social Security Disability and Social Security is too often ignored. We represent the "Lower Class" of America, trying to survive on a meager $900 to $1,500 a month. This amount has been stagnant for over 40 years, seeing only a nominal increase of $3 every year, which barely holds up against inflation and the rising cost of living. This systematic disenfranchisement is pushing us into homelessness, while the "Middle Class" continues to receive the bulk of economic attention and support.

It is time to alter this grim narrative. The lower-income individuals must not be left in the cold; we deserve an increase in financial assistance that matches our basic living costs and respects our dignity. It is a plea from the countless like myself who struggle every day to ensure meals on the table and a roof over our heads.

Let us raise our collective voices, demand our deserved attention, and request a proactive change in the Social Security Disability and Social Security payment structure. If you believe in dignity, equality, and financial justice for all, sign this petition. Help us make our struggles count and enable a better and inclusive future.

Food kitchens and food pantries don't help us and we only get $200 a month in food stamps or EBT.
