As a parent of a one-year-old child, I cannot fathom the horror of my child being killed by relentless bombing. The thought of her maimed or orphaned, wandering amidst death and destruction is unbearable. This is not a dystopian nightmare; it's the grim reality for countless children in Palestine right now.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has claimed the lives of too many innocent children. In under two months (Oct 7 - Nov 26, 2023), more than 6,000 children have been killed and over 14,000 injured. These are not mere numbers; they are young lives cut short and futures stolen away.

When we see babies with missing limbs, dead in parents arms, it makes us sick. It makes us sick that “leaders” of nations think this is okay.

This petition calls upon Canada's political leaders to immediately enforce a ceasefire in Gaza. No child should have to live under constant threat of violence or lose their life due to conflicts they had no part in creating. We must prioritize peace over politics and ensure that every child has the right to live without fear.

This is not about the Israeli state vs Palestinian state. This is not about religion. This is not even about the loaded history of the region. We are not assuming to have a solution to the situation in Gaza. But we can say without a doubt that the murder of thousands of children is not acceptable. The ongoing, daily, relentless killing of babies and children is unacceptable. 

It must stop now. 

We implore you – as parents, as cousins, as aunties and uncles to little ones, as compassionate humans – do not let this continue unchecked. Sign this petition today and demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for the sake of children, parents, and families everywhere.

No matter anyone’s excuse to bomb anyone else, they must maintain the bare minimum of human decency. We must not allow the mass murder of thousands of children. Not in Gaza. Not anywhere.
