The Issue

In the small town of my childhood, I was surrounded by a myriad of voices, each with a unique story. Many of those stories belong to immigrants, individuals who brought with them vibrant cultures, hard work, and dreams for a better future in the United States. My own family, scattered across borders, helped me understand that our connections do not end at geographical boundaries.

In recent years, the deportation of immigrants in the U.S. has intensified, affecting countless lives. These individuals contribute to the social and economic fabric of our communities. For instance, immigrants make up about 13.7% of the U.S. population, but they represent nearly 17% of the labor force, fueling our economy and enriching our cultural landscape. Most immigrants come to the U.S. to seek safety, economic opportunity, and a chance to reunite with their families. However, harsh deportation policies place these fundamental human needs in jeopardy, tearing families apart and disrupting lives.

Not only does deportation separate families, it also affects cultural exchange, including the arts. Many famous musical artists hailing from foreign countries are unable to perform in the U.S. due to stringent immigration policies. The arts have a magic of their own—a concert can spark joy, create memories, and bring diverse communities together through the universal language of music. We are losing these opportunities because of restrictive immigration laws.

Let's imagine a world where families remain unbroken and cultural exchange flourishes without barriers. Ending deportations would be a step in that direction. It calls for compassionate immigration reforms that prioritize human rights and recognize the immense contributions immigrants make.

We urge lawmakers to consider these impacts and rethink current deportation practices. Help us protect the rights of immigrants and celebrate their role in both families and the wider community.

Sign this petition to demand an end to the deportations of immigrants in the U.S. Together, we can foster a more inclusive and compassionate society.
