Demand all fashion brands operating in the UK to offer extensive petite collections
The Issue
While the fashion world has made strides towards inclusive sizing in recent years, the petite community continues to be largely neglected. In today’s diverse society, it is essential that brands offer a wider selection of stylish, well-proportioned clothing for petites—both in shops and online.
This lack of suitable clothing limits our choices, affects our confidence, and makes it harder to feel comfortable and stylish in everyday life, options remain minimal.
Fashion brands must recognise the demand for fashionable, properly fitted petite clothing. By expanding petite collections, brands can reach more customers, improve satisfaction, and set a new standard for inclusivity. While some brands, such as ASOS, Marks and Spencer, John Lewis, Fatface (and more) have begun expanding their petite lines, there is still much more to be done.
We call on clothing retailers across the UK (and beyond!) to increase the availability, variety, and style of petite clothing, as well a sizing options. Introduce fresh designs, ensure accurate sizing and fit, and make these options accessible in all shops and online. This change will benefit millions of shoppers and create a retail environment that truly reflects the diversity of body shapes in our society.
Despite representing a significant portion of the population, petite shoppers are often overlooked by the fashion industry. It is disheartening to walk into shops and find only a tiny “petite” section —usually with limited, ill-fitting, and uninspiring options and more needs to be done.
Join us in demanding better representation and choices for petite shoppers. Sign this petition and help transform the fashion industry into one that fits everyone!
Personal note: I am Genevieve, 5ft tall (152.4 cm), live in the UK I have always struggled to find clothes that fit well. Most garments are too long, too loose, or simply do not sit well on my frame. Despite representing a significant portion of the population, petite shoppers are often overlooked by the fashion industry.
It is disheartening to walk into shops and find only a tiny “petite” section —usually with limited, ill-fitting, and uninspiring options and more needs to be done.
To note: National surveys suggest that nearly 45% of women in the US fall into the petite category.
