Demand Accountability: No Senator Should Profit from Companies That Support ICE

Demand Accountability: No Senator Should Profit from Companies That Support ICE
The Issue
No member of Congress should vote on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) funding while holding financial ties to companies that profit from ICE contracts.
Yet that is exactly the situation Utahns, and all Americans, are being asked to accept.
Senator John Curtis has long-standing financial ties to Action Target, a Utah-based company that designs and builds shooting ranges and training equipment for law enforcement agencies, including ICE. At the same time, Congress regularly votes on funding, oversight, and policies that directly affect ICE and other federal law-enforcement agencies.
Even when legal, this creates a serious conflict-of-interest risk. Democracy only works when people believe decisions are made for the public good, not personal gain.
According to federal records, Action Target has received more than $61 million in federal contracts across multiple agencies, including the Department of Defense (DOD) and dozens of contracts from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the agency that oversees ICE. The company has even marketed products specifically for ICE use. Senator Curtis has publicly acknowledged his past ownership and leadership role in the company. Even the appearance of a conflict undermines public trust.
Elected officials should not profit from the policies they vote on.
We are calling on Senator John Curtis to:
- Step down from his leadership role at Action Target, and
- Give up his financial ties to companies that receive federal government contracts, or fully recuse himself from any related votes, oversight or actions related to ICE, defense or federal law-enforcement funding.
Add your name to demand accountability. Public service should never be a profit opportunity.
These are the minimum standards of ethical leadership.
