As the sister of Gani, a 12-year-old autistic student currently enrolled at Summit school, I understand firsthand the challenges faced by families of students attending this specialized institution in Montreal. My brother, like many others, has to endure an exhausting journey via public transportation to school. Despite living within the designated school service area, the administration cannot provide adequate transportation for him, a struggle shared by many other parents and guardians.

This issue doesn't only impose unnecessary stress on the young learners but also compromises the welfare of the parents who have to arrange their work schedules around their children's commute. The question that begs to be answered is: what use is the school making of our hard-earned money? Especially in this economy.

On top of this, there have been reports of children coming back home with injuries from their bus/van. This is due to there not being a bus monitor on the bus. This is yet another, serious, issue.

I believe that our children's well-being and their access to education should not be compromised due to transportation . All children, irrespective of their particular circumstances, should have safe and simple  access to education.

If they cannot provide transportation, they should be clear about it from the start.
