I am an ordinary individual who had an extraordinary experience - one that's had life-altering implications. Once a part of the Green Oaks Life Prep program in Arlington, Texas, I found more than just education, I found love. This love, however, took a turn for the worse due to inappropriate actions by the school administration and staff

The administration at Green Oaks School took it upon themselves to disclose my personal disciplinary records following my expulsion from Life Prep on February 15th, 2023. This unnecessary and cruel act led to a ripple effect of personal and legal consequences, touching the lives of those I care about deeply, making this issue immensely personal.

In what world is it acceptable for an educational institution to disclose sensitive records knowing the potential impact on a student's life? Nationally, public schools are bound by the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to protect the privacy of student educational records, establishing a trust between institution and student that Green Oaks School seems to have broken. This isn't only about my personal story, but also about the ethical standards we expect educational institutions to uphold.

It is time for Green Oaks School to be held accountable for their actions. Not only must they take responsibility for the breach of trust involving me, but they also need to ensure that this does not happen again to any other student who trusts them with their personal information.
