Demand accountability for unauthorized use of My Child images

Demand accountability for unauthorized use of My Child images
The Issue
Seeing my child’s image shared without my permission was both alarming and unacceptable. The individual who circulated my child's photo had no legal custody or rights pertaining to my child, making this act a direct violation of our privacy and safety. As a parent, it's my duty to protect my child’s privacy, safety, and dignity, and it's alarming to see those rights violated in such a public and unauthorized manner.
This issue goes beyond just one incident—it highlights the broader problem of unauthorized use of minors' images by individuals without parental rights. Digital platforms have made it easy for anyone to share and distribute images, but this convenience should not come at the cost of a child's privacy and safety. Under child privacy and safety laws, it is critical that we hold individuals accountable to ensure that parents maintain control over their children's images and that children are protected.
The unauthorized use and distribution of these images can lead to serious repercussions. It can increase the risk of online exploitation, diminish a child’s right to anonymity, and potentially expose them to unwanted and harmful attention. No parent should have to worry about their child being misrepresented, exploited, or unwittingly placed in dangerous situations online.
To address this significant concern, I am calling on both local and national governments to take urgent action to strengthen existing child privacy and protection laws. This includes ensuring that legal consequences are enforced for those who misuse children's images and that protective measures are in place to prevent unauthorized sharing. By doing so, we shall reinforce the importance of consent and parental control over their child's online presence, making the digital world a safer place for our young ones.
I urge you to support this cause by signing this petition. Together, we can make a stand for all parents and guardians in similar situations, and demand accountability and tighter regulations that prioritize the safety and dignity of all children in the digital world.
