The Issue

A article printed in the daily mail this week regarding all adhd women were deluded by Dr Ellie.

I was diagnosed this year at the age of 57 with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). For 25 years, I was caught in a cycle of visiting psychiatrists who prescribed a dizzying array of medications – up to 15 different pills each day – without any significant improvement in my symptoms. Over time, I endured numerous treatments including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and countless talking therapies. In the culmination of years seeking understanding and relief, I was fortunate to work with a psychologist who, after just six sessions, recognized my ADHD and guided me onto a transformative pathway. This accurate diagnosis has revolutionized my life, enabling me to function with clarity and purpose.

Therefore, reading an article claiming that women with ADHD are deluded is not only offensive but profoundly damaging. Such assertions underscore a blatant lack of understanding of the daily struggle faced by those with ADHD, especially women who are all too often misdiagnosed or simply dismissed. It's overwhelming to deal with a neurological disorder that disrupts everyday life, and dismissive and inaccurate portrayals only serve to invalidate and belittle those challenges. The implications of these misleading statements are enormous, encouraging stigma and delaying appropriate treatment for countless individuals who deserve recognition and support.

It's vital to hold medical professionals and journalists accountable for the information they disseminate, especially when it has the potential to influence public perception and affect the quality of life for so many individuals. This is a call to action for all medical boards and journalistic entities to review and rectify any misleading information and ensure factually accurate and empathy-driven communication in their publications.

Join me in demanding accountability and promoting accurate, compassionate portrayals of ADHD. Together, we can push for the change necessary to foster understanding, support, and appropriate treatment pathways for those with ADHD. Let's ensure no one else has to endure decades of misguided and inadequate healthcare responses. Please sign this petition to help create a more informed and accepting world for everyone affected by ADHD.

the article written from an alleged GP should be abolished and removed. It undermines the struggles caused by misinformation and to be as insulting as to call me deluded I want a thorough investigation by the GMC to highlight how dangerous this article is. This will push even more patients back from getting treatment and the more tragic circumstances could arrive.

so I here by call for Dr Ellie of the daily Mail to retract her article and apologise to the patients that she has slandered. I will not stop until she apologises or until the GMC insist on further training for her as I only see one deluded person on this page tonight Dr Ellie.

please help me make a change by signing the petition and reduce articles that have further impact of patients mental health. I would like to see the story retracted and a formal apology granted along with further training for Dr Ellie.
