The Issue

Franklin County, like any other part of the United States, has its share of challenges when it comes to law enforcement and the preservation of civil rights. There have been numerous complaints and distressing reports from the residents about some town and sheriff's officers who have allegedly violated civil rights, bent the laws they vowed to enforce, and engaged in bullying or intimidating the very citizens they are supposed to protect.

The role of law enforcement is to serve with integrity, honor, and fairness, ensuring that every community member feels safe and respected. Unfortunately, the actions of a few can overshadow the dedication and hard work of many, leading to a breakdown in community trust and safety. It is reported that certain officers have been involved in activities that are not only unprofessional but also illegal.

For example, according to citizen reports, there have been instances of unnecessary use of force, racial profiling, and wrongful detentions. Incidents like these erode the fundamental principles of justice and equality upon which our nation stands. Law enforcement officers should not be above the law but should be its most ardent defenders.

We are calling for the immediate termination and disciplinary review of any Franklin County Town & Sheriff's Officers found guilty of these infringements. To achieve this goal, we propose:

1. An independent oversight committee to investigate complaints against officers and ensure thorough reviews of incidents where misconduct is alleged.
2. Mandatory training programs focusing on civil rights, de-escalation techniques, and community engagement.
3. Transparent disciplinary procedures with public reporting of officer misconduct and the actions taken.
4. Collaboration with community leaders to rebuild trust and bridge gaps between law enforcement and residents.

Enforcing these measures will not only help in maintaining peace and trust among our community but also ensure that those serving our county are held to the highest standards of accountability and professionalism.

Join us in demanding accountability, justice, and transparency from our law enforcement officers. Your voice is essential in driving change and ensuring that everyone in Franklin County lives without fear of those who are supposed to serve and protect them. Sign the petition to make a difference.
