On Memorial Day — a day meant to honor the sacrifices of our fallen service members — President Donald Trump used his platform to launch a venomous, partisan tirade that attacked fellow Americans, insulted judges, and spread fear and division. His message, filled with dehumanizing language and political rage, stands in stark contrast to the spirit of unity and remembrance that Memorial Day is meant to represent.

This isn’t the first time a solemn national moment has been overshadowed by inflammatory rhetoric from President Trump, but enough is enough.

Our service members and their families deserve better.

Our country deserves leadership that reflects the dignity of its values and the solemnity of its national observances.

We call on Congress to formally censure President Trump for his deeply inappropriate Memorial Day remarks and to reaffirm a bipartisan commitment to honoring our military with the respect they have earned.

Partisan attacks have no place on a day of national mourning.

Let Memorial Day be about the fallen, not about one man’s anger.
