The Issue
On April 19, 2024, my parental rights to my only child were stripped from me. For over a year, I have neither seen nor heard from my son. The pain of not being able to nurture and raise my child is indescribable. My heart aches knowing that my son has been adopted out, lost to a system that appears to benefit from our loss. As I learned more about the systemic issues within family courts, I realized that my story is not unique. Countless families suffer a similar fate, entangled in a web of misrepresentation, corruption, and the unjust practices of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Child Protective Services (CPS).
The dissolution of my family is not an isolated incident, but rather a symptom of a far-reaching problem within the system. DCFS/CPS, entrusted with the well-being of our children, should protect and preserve families. Instead, their actions tear families apart, causing immeasurable harm emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to parents and children alike.
