The Issue

Our brother, Linton BGreen Blackwell, was brutally taken from us. Shot 17 times in the back by a police officer sworn to protect us. This tragedy took place in Atlanta, leaving our family shattered and searching for answers. Yet, instead of transparency and justice, we face silence and resistance.

The Atlanta Police Department (APD) officer responsible, Gerald Walker, continues his duties without repercussions. This lack of accountability is not only unjust but deeply distressing for our community. How many more families must feel the pain and loss we endure before significant action is taken against those who misuse their power?

The first step towards justice is transparency. We demand that any available video footage of the incident be released to our family immediately. This footage is critical for us to find some semblance of closure and truth in the face of this unbearable loss.

Furthermore, we request a thorough, independent investigation into the actions of Officer Gerald Walker. It is imperative that law enforcement be held to the highest standard, ensuring no one is above the law.

According to Mapping Police Violence, Black individuals are nearly three times more likely to be killed by police compared to white individuals. This alarming statistic underlines a systemic issue that demands attention. Every life lost due to excessive police force tears the fabric of trust in our communities.

Help us in our fight to bring justice for my brother, and to prevent further tragedies in our community. We cannot bring Linton back, but together we can call for a change that protects us all from unchecked powers.

Please sign this petition and share our call for accountability and transparency. Help us make a stand for Linton BGreen Blackwell and for justice everywhere.
