Demand Accountability for Andrea Radney's Corruption in Georgia's Probation System
The Issue
We live in an era where our judicial system assures us justice, however, experiences like mine question the credibility of such claims. My case is not isolated. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, annually about 14.5% of individuals under correctional supervision report experiencing either threats, physical assault, or sexual assault by staff (BJS, 2012-2015). These are staggering figures pointing to a larger issue of corruption and misconduct which needs immediate attention.
It is for my case, and the many untold ones like it, that we are demanding a comprehensive investigation into Andrea Radney's actions, and her immediate suspension pending this investigation. If the allegations are proven true, she should be terminated and held legally responsible for her actions.
Petition Against Assistant Chief Probation Officer Andrea Radney & Lanier County Probation Office
I am filing this petition to expose the misconduct of Assistant Chief Probation Officer Andrea Radney and the Lanier County Probation Office. Radney abused her authority by forcing me into Greenleaf in Valdosta, GA, for three nights and four days. She also falsified a failed drug test, leading to a court-issued warrant for my arrest and a petition to revoke my probation.
After filing a formal complaint against Radney, I received a letter from the Department of Community Supervision in Atlanta stating that my probation had expired and that I was no longer on probation. When I contacted my assigned probation officer, Sapp, for clarification, she confirmed that in court the previous week, she had to drop my warrant and the petition to revoke my probation. This sudden termination of 4 years of felony probation and the dismissal of the warrant—both issued on 01/16/2025 and dropped on 03/11/2025—was clearly done to silence me rather than to hold Radney accountable.
Radney, who also oversees drug court, holds significant power within the probation system. Given her history of misconduct, I am deeply concerned for my family’s safety—especially my sister, who is a participant in the drug court. We fear retaliation for my complaints.
Despite speaking with Chief Probation Officer Ryan Smith and other officials, I have not been given a clear reason why my probation was suddenly terminated or why the warrant was dismissed. However, the fact that they took these actions proves merit in my complaint. If my claims were baseless, I would be in prison right now.
I demand a full and transparent investigation into Andrea Radney’s actions, as well as accountability for her abuse of power.
