The Issue

My daughter is currently being held in a government DJJ facility, and she has suffered an unimaginable ordeal; she was sexually assaulted while in their care. As a mother, I am overwhelmed with pain and a desperate need for answers. This situation is deeply personal to me, as I was also a victim of such horrors at a young age. It is unfathomable to think that, in our time, these atrocities continue unchecked, perpetuating a cycle of trauma and silence.

I demand accountability from the Department of Juvenile Justice and answers regarding how such a grievous violation could occur under their supervision. The safety protocols that are supposed to protect our children clearly failed in this case. The DJJ must thoroughly investigate and reassess these measures to ensure that they are fortified and adequate to prevent further incidents.

Too many victims suffer in silence, with their voices stifled by fear and shame. My daughter's experience cannot be in vain—it must serve as a catalyst for systemic change within the DJJ. There must be transparency, and those responsible for allowing such conditions to persist must be held accountable.

We must not only seek justice for my daughter but also stand as advocates for all victims who are unable, or afraid, to speak out. No child should have to endure what my daughter has faced. Together, we can demand change and push for a safer environment for all children in the juvenile justice system.

Please join me in this vital fight for justice, accountability, and reform. Sign this petition to call for my daughter's immediate release from the facility, an independent investigation into the incident, and the implementation of stricter safety measures to protect others from suffering similar fates. Your support is crucial—help us end this cycle of abuse and silence.
