The Issue

Children in Nevada are suffering and dying because the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is failing to protect them. We are calling on Attorney General Aaron Ford to launch an independent investigation into DCFS operations in Washoe, Lyon, and Churchill Counties, as well as any other Northern Nevada counties he deems necessary.

A child in Reno was recently murdered by her own father—a man who had been reported to DCFS multiple times. Despite those warnings, this child remained in a dangerous home and ultimately paid the price with her life. Her death was preventable. And now her blood is on the hands of a system that was supposed to protect her.

This is not an isolated case.

Many parents, including myself, have made numerous reports to DCFS about ongoing abuse and neglect—only to be ignored. These reports haven’t just come from concerned parents, but also from licensed therapists and law enforcement. Still, no protective action has been taken. This is not just a failure; it’s a pattern of negligence.

We’ve all seen the heartbreaking stories—children harmed, neglected, or killed even after warning signs were raised. These are no longer rare, isolated tragedies. They are glaring symptoms of a broken system.

Families across Northern Nevada are living in fear and heartbreak because DCFS is not doing its job. This is a systemic crisis and it demands immediate, decisive action.

We, the undersigned, demand that Attorney General Aaron Ford:

Launch an independent investigation into DCFS practices and failures in Washoe, Lyon, and Churchill Counties (and any other counties he deems appropriate);
Hold negligent caseworkers, supervisors, and administrators accountable;
Prioritize transparency, systemic reform, and—above all—the safety of Nevada’s children.

We are the voices of families trying to protect their children. We are the advocates for those too young to speak for themselves. And we will not remain silent while these injustices continue.

Please sign and share this petition. Together, we can demand the accountability and protection that every child in Nevada deserves
