At a meeting held for residents of Hiranandani Powai and Chandivali, we have been shocked to discover that two massive projects are quietly being pushed right into our backyard in Powai completely bypassing the mandatory public consultations with local residents.

⁠Asia’s Largest 30,000-seat mega GCC + Mall + Multiplex Screens behind Forest park. . These together mean over approximately 1 lakh people transiting daily through narrow internal routes like Forest Street (Next to Lake Castle), Chandivali Farm Road (from Raheja Vihar & Nahar Amritshakti to Panch Shrishti Complex) & Orchard Avenue (road that opens out towards  Hiranandani from Lake Homes & Powai Vihar)

This translates into 20-25,000 vehicles (Buses, cars, autos, bikes) entering and exiting daily. As per documents available, only about 2500 car parking have been provided. This means our residential streets will be used for parking. 

Adjacent to this complex ⁠11 Massive PAP buildings (for Project Affected Persons) having 3,850 flats are already being constructed with only 614 car parking for thousands of residents. 

There are expansion plans of ancillary IT related buildings, services etc which will put further burden on our utilities, water, waste management, traffic etc. A traffic assessment done during Covid period in 2021 is being cited, which has no scientific basis and deliberately underplays the traffic assessment.

Towards this a demand for a proper public hearing regarding this massive development project and a scientific traffic load study and solutions is being made by many housing societies. If these are not accepted by the Government of Maharashtra, there is a proposal of  filing a PIL for seeking redressal of our grievances regarding future of our families by the Powai Action Forum.
