The Issue

I am a parent in Scotland whose son has been bullied from primary school and now into secondary school. Despite assurances that bullying is taken seriously, the system continues to fail children like him.

There is no mandatory national anti-bullying policy, leaving schools and local authorities to respond inconsistently. This postcode lottery allows bullying to continue with little deterrent, while victims are expected to cope or adapt.

We call on the Scottish Government to introduce a single national anti-bullying policy for all education settings, alongside stronger, consistent consequences for bullying, particularly repeat or serious cases.

No child should suffer simply to receive an education. Scotland must act now to protect its children.
